The house is located on a gentle hill rising from the northwest to the southeast about three hundred meters from the sea, and the distance makes it special in this case. Olive groves and low houses give it a particular context with the sea as a backdrop. Access to the plot is provided at the lowest elevation of the terrain, via the road junction planned at the northwest corner. The plot, regular in the lower part and orthogonal in the upper third, expands and turns into a round, tuberous shape. The program defines one residential unit, which consists of service areas in the basement, living areas on the ground floor, and bedrooms on the mezzanine and first floor. The building mass is positioned at the top of the property. The specificity of the plot, and the assumption that the character of the place where the houses are small and adequate requires the fragmentation of a large, program-defined volume into smaller parts, results in the division of the whole into three blocks. The arrangement of the blocks follows the logic of the property’s shape; thus, a composition of individual elements is created. The fragments are united into a whole by a lower connecting portion. Shifts and rhythm between elements, in addition to adapting to the plot (floor plan), are also present in relation to the relief (section). Blocks in the same context oscillate in a different height relationship. Spatial units are organized within the parameters of the spatial plan with the intention that the main areas capture the view towards the sea.
The vehicular access and access to the basement floor is from the southwest side. It’s comprised of service areas, a garage for two vehicles and a segment dedicated to wellness and relaxation. The logic of the ground floor is to orient the public areas towards the natural environment (trees and sea). Getting to the ground floor level is made possible by paths with cascades and stairs. The flow of upward movement is occasionally interrupted by elements like planter with trees and ornamental plants. The ground floor is comprised of the living room, dining room, kitchen, entrance hall and service areas. The vertical core (main staircase) between the blocks connects all levels in one place. On the mezzanine level in the lowest cube, the bedroom with accompanying walk-in closet and sanitary facilities is oriented towards the back garden and the sea. Upstairs there are three bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms. There is a large room in the northern volume, and two smaller ones in the southwestern volume. There is a garden around the house and a large swimming pool in front of the living room. The water mirror connects with the sea on the horizon and in terms of landscape design, diverse Mediterranean/local vegetation was added to the existing olive trees. The ground floor is mixed with horticultural areas and paving. Stone and ceramics, clay and red soil, grass and low bushes alternate. The curved, white and stone-clad form accepts and mixes with the greenery.
